Safety
Stay safe when you hire, and when you work.
Most jobs go smoothly. A few habits keep it that way.
If you are hiring
Check who turns up
Ask to see ID when they arrive and check the name matches the one you were given.
Agree the price first
Get a quote, or a rate and a limit, before work starts. WhatsApp is fine: it leaves a record.
Do not pay everything up front
Pay when the work is done. If materials have to be bought first, pay for those only.
Tell someone
For a first visit, let a family member or neighbour know who is coming and when. Daytime is best.
Look for the Verified badge
It means our team has checked the professional’s phone number and ID. It is not a guarantee of the work.
If you are a professional
Be clear on price
Tell the customer your rate before you start, and agree any change before you do extra work.
Buy credits only inside TheHire
Use the TheHire website or app to buy credits or the Pro plan. If anyone asks you to pay for leads any other way, do not, and tell us.
Keep the customer’s details to the job
A customer’s number is shared so you can do their job. Do not pass it on or use it for anything else.
Ask for payment on completion
A small advance for materials is fine if you explain it. Asking for the full amount up front puts customers off.
Never share an OTP, PIN, card number or password
TheHire staff will not ask for them. The code we text you to confirm your phone number is only for TheHire’s own website or app. Never read it out to anyone, including someone who says they are from TheHire.
Something went wrong?
Raise a support ticket from your account, or email us. Tell us the professional’s name or your request link, what happened and when.
In an emergency, call 112 first.
